Since the beginning of our marriage, my wife and I have been wanting to purchase a home. A place that we could call our own. A Godly environment that we could raise our children in. You know the story. In 2013 we found a nice home that was a foreclosure. The neighborhood was great but it was a little far from the city. We prayed about it, contacted our realtor, and placed a generous bid on it. Unfortunately , we didn’t win.

Our attitude: God is good & sovereign

A few months after that, our realtor called us. Excitement filled the room as she told us that we we won the bid and needed to act quickly.

Our attitude: God is good & sovereign

We prayed and we flew into action! We got our loan approved and started signing paperwork. Suddenly our realtor called us with bad news. She had been notified that we didn’t get the foreclosure. “Wait what!? Really!?” She wasn’t sure what happened… This was during “Snowmageddon 2014” so I’m thinking that the icy roads might have been a factor.

Our attitude: God is good & sovereign

Fast forward to the Summer of 2014… We find out that we are expecting after 2 miscarriages! Our 2 bedroom apartment is not going to be enough room. During the Fall of 2014 we managed to pay off about $4000 in debt! Wifey wasn’t working at the time and still isn’t as of this post. Still, we were continuing to believe God for a house. My wife began to slowly pack our belongings in faith! I would bring the boxes and she and the girls pack. During the winter of 2014 we started looking for a house. We got pre-approved and we found one that we liked in our budget! We contacted our realtor and set the ball in motion.

We are now first-time home owners!

Our attitude: God is good & sovereign

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. (‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬ NLT)

In life we are going to face various storms but the way we approach them will, in many cases, affect the outcome. Does your attitude reflect trust in God or the emotions that you have about your current situation? I choose to believe what the bible says, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them (‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28‬ NLT).”

God can do the most and He has been wilding out in my life this year! Blessed me with a new house, new son on the way, and a single that I hear is blessing others, and a new website! I wonder what else He has planned for us this year.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, (‭Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬ NKJV)

I think this quote from Dr. Tony Evans is appropriate…

God is God and He can shake things up over night!
